Currently living and working in Houston,TX, Eco-futurist world builder Christelyn Nash is a contemporary artist advocating for our collective ecological imagination and its impact on nature, innovation and technology in the modern world.

With a multidisciplinary practice rooted in photography and virtual reality, Nash produces sublime and surreal projects that play with our emotional sense of time and space.

Photographs and large scale immersive installations serve as a portal into Christeland, a metaphysical domain of her design.

The central theme of this world is a metaphysical location where we can safely explore existential attachments to our bodies, the earth, and other human beings. Through a sort of freedom dreaming, I am using VR gaming consoles and computer generated imagery to evaluate our relationship to inner-space while occupying outer-space. I was born in the 1990’s, when Internet Explorer was first added to a computer, video games were becoming more immersive, and space travel was highly advocated for. I consider my work to be a form of astral projection because it allows me to exist in more than one place at a time. Once the work is uploaded online, it is then wherever you are now. My practice calls for a balance between self-awareness and self-detachment. Humans must be aware of who we believe we are, and we must release that belief to make space for alternative yet simultaneous truths.
